One of 2026’s best action movies is climbing up the streaming charts

When Nick approaches Mike after a party hosted by their boss, Sosa (Keith David, Nope), Mike is certain he is about to be killed. It turns out, however, that this version of Nick is a gentler one from the future, having gotten access to a prototype of a time machine.

Nick has returned to the past to right a wrong he committed after Sosa's party, and he needs Alice and Mike's help to do so. This mission proves difficult, on account of present-day Nick interfering with future Nick's plans.

Written and directed by BenDavid Grabinski (Scott Pilgrim Takes Off), Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice's cast also includes Arturo Castro (Road House), Ben Schwartz (Parks & Recreation), Emily Hampshire (Schitt's Creek), Jimmy Tatro (Theater Camp) and Stephen Root (Get Out). This is alongside one great cameo, which we won't spoil.

The film boasts uniformly excellent and likeable performances from its well-chosen cast, stylish and vibrant action, and witty pop-culture-literate writing - the latter of which brings the laughs, while making you care deeply about the four leads of the title.

While on paper, an action sci-fi comedy romance sounds like it may not work, due to its seemingly warring genres and tones, Grabinski sticks the landing, perhaps because he keeps viewers invested throughout in his characters.

All in all, it's the type of movie that could garner a cult following in the years to come.

Released on streaming through Disney+ just over three weeks ago, the film has only now cracked the top three on JustWatch's weekly film streaming chart for Ireland, suggesting it is finding an audience.
