Netflix have added one of the most fun and most thrilling scary movies of recent years

life

Fans of Alien should find a lot to like here.

First released back in 2017, there was some hope that this movie would be something of a hit.

With a budget of around $60 million, a cast including Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson, with a script from the writers of Zombieland and Deadpool, and directed by the guy behind solid thriller Safe House.

It even had two-time Oscar nominated Irish cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (Atonement, Nocturnal Animals, The Avengers) making the whole thing look pretty.

However, things didn’t quite work out that way for Life.

Critics mostly seemed to like it, with decent performances and great special effects and a lot of decent scares, not to mention that ending that had everyone talking. Despite that, it only went on to make $100 million at the worldwide box office, which is a shockingly low amount for a movie with this much high-profile talent attached.

But maybe it was just a little too similar to that other, very famous, science-fiction, space-set, horror-thriller in which a group of likeable scientists get picked off one-by-one by a lethal, shape-shifting killing machine.

However, if you haven’t seen Alien, or maybe found it too slow-moving for your tastes, then you’ll be happy to hear that Netflix have added Life to their library as of Sunday 17 February.

And even if you do love Alien (as you rightly should, because it is amazing), then you should still check this one out, because it genuinely a lot of fun.
