Nidge busts out of a high-security prison? We’re sold.

It has been a pretty stellar 12 months for Tom Vaughan-Lawlor after the Love/Hate star shot to international fame by playing Ebony Maw in Avengers: Infinity War.

However, one of his projects that might have slipped by your radar was his role in Stephen Burke’s wild IRA thriller, MAZE, which arrived in cinemas during the final months of 2017.

Based on the true story of the 1983 breakout of 38 IRA prisoners from HMP Maze (Long Kesh) in Northern Ireland, MAZE was championed by various outlets at the time.

Film Ireland called it both “important and exciting”, while the Irish Times praised Vaughan-Lawlor for combining “raw commitment with a sneaky flexibility to give us an honest man who lies like a master” in his portrayal of Larry Marley, who orchestrated the breakout.

Now you can be the judge for yourself, as Netflix has acquired the Video On Demand rights to MAZE and will be making it available to stream on the UK and Ireland platform from Tuesday, 22 May onward.
