8 great new additions to Amazon Prime Video in December

Absolutely LOADS of new stuff to choose from...

Having recently added 10 very decent movies to their library, you would be forgiven for thinking that Amazon Prime Video is done giving us stuff for 2021. But nope, the platform has another stacked list of new arrivals coming in December, and we've picked eight of the best shows and movies to be excited about over the next 31 days or so... SPIRAL Chris Rock wrote the screenplay and stars in this supremely violent reboot of the Saw series, playing a detective who believes Jigsaw may have somehow returned, and may have direct links to his father (Samuel L. Jackson). Spiral arrives on Prime Video on Friday, 3 December. WRATH OF MAN Jason Statham reunites with director Guy Ritchie for the first time in 15 years for this dark action thriller, revolving around an employee at an armoured transit van company who finds himself at the centre of a complicated attempted heist gone awry. Wrath of Man arrives on Prime Video on Friday, 10 December. ENCOUNTER Riz Ahmed, Octavia Spencer and Rory Cochrane star in this sci-fi thriller about a highly trained marine (Ahmed) who is attempting to save his two young sons from the threat of an alien invasion. Encounter arrives on Prime Video on Friday, 10 December. THE EXPANSE SEASON 6 The sixth and final season of one of the greatest sci-fi shows of all time is almost here. Picking up with the entire solar system at war, a new power has begun to rise, one that could turn the tide of battle forever. The Expanse Season 6 kicks off on Prime Video on Friday, 10 December, with new episodes arriving weekly. BEING THE RICARDOS Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network) writes and directs this drama about one of the most-beloved sitcoms of all time – I Love Lucy. Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem play the on-and-off-screen married couple at the centre of the public spotlight. Being The Ricardos arrives on Prime Video on Tuesday, 21 December. YEARLY DEPARTED 2020 gave us our first taste of Yearly Departed, as an all-female comedian line-up made fun of the previous 12 months we'd all just endured. This year's collection of funny ladies includes Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie), Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Meg Stalter (Hacks), Dulcé Sloan (The Daily Show), Aparna Nancherla (The Great North), and X Mayo (The Daily Show). Yearly Departed arrives on Prime Video on Thursday, 23 December. HITMAN'S WIFE'S BODYGUARD Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson reunite for this action comedy, this time with Jackson's on-screen wife Salma Hayek also in the thick of the action, with all three attempting to stop an evil madman, played by Antonio Banderas. Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard arrives on Prime Video on Tuesday, 28 December. THE PROTÈGÈ Directed by Martin Campbell (GoldenEye, Casino Royale), this action thriller focuses on the world's most deadly assassin (Maggie Q) who goes on a rampage of revenge when her trainer is killed in cold blood.
