It’s been a pretty good week for Martin McDonagh and Saoirse Ronan.
After both were honoured at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, the director of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and the star of Ladybird were amongst the nominees for IFTA awards announced by Deirdre O’Kane & Liam Cunningham on Thursday morning.
Ronan is one of three actresses up for the Best Actress award for her role in the highly-regarded coming-of-age movie Ladybird, which has been nominated for Best International Film alongside Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Dunkirk and Shape of Water.
McDonagh has earned a Best Director nod for a movie that cleaned up at the Golden Globes last weekend, with Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand also earning international actor and actress nominations.
Liam Cunningham, Brendan Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, Amy Huberman, Aiden Gillen, Charlie Murphy and Ruth Negga were amongst those nominated in other categories; you can see the list of nominations in full below.
