An excellently twisty legal thriller movie is on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

Safe to say, it’s the only movie to star Cher and Liam Neeson.

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Friday, 13 December) is Suspect, the excellent ’80s legal thriller.

The film focuses on a public defence lawyer (Oscar-winner Cher, Moonstruck) who is assigned to defend a homeless, deaf Vietnam war veteran (Oscar-nominee Liam Neeson, Schindler’s List) suspected of murder.

The lawyer winds up receiving help from a jury member (Dennis Quaid, The Substance) in getting to the bottom of the case.

Boasting three great performances, tense and stylish direction from Peter Yates (Breaking Away, Bullitt), and a solid and twisty screenplay from Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Insider), Suspect is a must-watch for fans of legal thrillers.

Also featuring amongst its cast Joe Mantegna (The Godfather Part III) and John Mahoney (Frasier), the movie is airing on TV tonight on RTÉ One at 11.15pm.

It will also be available after it airs to stream on the RTÉ Player.
