The first reactions to Captain Marvel are in and they’re excellent

Captain Marvel

“It feels completely unlike any other Marvel film.” A treat for fans of the MCU.

If the world is going to shit and you’re still taking the time to send someone a message, you know that it’s bound to be important.

At the end of Avengers: Infinity War, this is how film fans were introduced to Carol Danvers, someone that’s destined to change the MCU.

After Thanos’ fatal snap, it appears that Captain Marvel is going to have a massive role in the next few films and before we (presumably) get to see her kicking ass in Avengers: Endgame, there’s the small matter of her own standalone film to deal with.

Described by Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige as “more powerful than any character we’ve introduced thus far,” Captain Marvel is going to be a massive change of pace for Marvel because it’s set in the mid-1990s.

The first few trailers introduced us to the Skrulls as Carol gets caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

After joining an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander, Danvers is thrown into an intergalactic battle after the Skrulls invade Earth, led by Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos at the head of the army.

With a supporting cast that also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou, Annette Bening, and Lee Pace, it’s clear that the film will be breaking new ground while paying homage to some fairly notable moments in the history of the MCU.

The film has now been screened for select viewers and it appears that Captain Marvel is another hit.

You can see the next comic-book epic when Captain Marvel is released in cinemas on 8 March.
