The Rainmaker, a new TV show version of John Grisham's legal thriller (which was previously made into a star-studded movie in 1997), is airing on TV tonight (Wednesday, 7 January).
The book takes its title from the term for a lawyer, who wins spectacular cases and earns huge sums in damages, being called "a rainmaker".
The series centres around Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan, Rivals), a young lawyer who gets a job working for a small "ambulance-chasing firm".
Rudy, along with his boss Bruiser (Lana Parrilla, Once Upon a Time), and her disheveled paralegal Deck (P.J. Byrne, The Wolf of Wall Street), uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.
This puts the young lawyer head-to-head with with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (John Slattery, Mad Men), as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah (Madison Iseman, Jumanji).
The Rainmaker movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola (Apocalypse Now, The Godfather trilogy) and saw Matt Damon (Oppenheimer) play Rudy.
Co-starring Claire Danes, Danny DeVito, Jon Voight and Mickey Rourke, the film earned very positive reviews but was a box office disappointment.
The Rainmaker TV show seems to be more successful on this front, already having earned a season two renewal.
Though the series has received mixed reviews from critics, viewers seem to love it - with the legal thriller currently holding an 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Rainmaker show will also be of particular interest to Irish audiences, as parts of it were filmed in Dublin.
The series airs in Ireland tonight on TG4 at 10.50pm.
Audiences will also be able to stream all ten of its episodes on TG4.ie after the broadcast.
