TUBRIDY V NORTON: The Late Late Toy Show edition

Conor Heneghan

Sorry Graham, we have eyes for one show and one show only this evening.

That’s just us, of course and if you’re not a fan of all the festive frolicking that’s going to be taking place over on RTÉ One from 9.30pm onwards, then Graham Norton will provide plenty of top notch entertainment on the Beeb as always.

Here’s what’s in store on both shows tonight.

The Late Late Toy Show

RTÉ have been hyping this up as the biggest and most ambitious Toy Show for years, so the proof really will be in the pudding later tonight.

320 children will take part in the show, which has adopted a Jungle Book theme this year, with Ryan and 72 young performers set to act out an opening number inspired by the movie.

The element of surprise is one of the biggest tricks the Toy Show has up its sleeve on an annual basis, having pulled the likes of Ed Sheeran and Ireland’s record goalscorer Robbie Keane out of the bag in recent years.

The real stars of the Toy Show, of course, are the kids themselves and you can guarantee that later this evening, everyone will be talking about new heroes and heroines who will follow in the footsteps of Evelyn Cusack’s biggest fan, the rapping farmer and an awestruck young legend named Domhnall.

We can’t wait.

The Graham Norton Show

Will.I.Am

With The Voice UK moving from the BBC to ITV and a new series set to air in January, singer Will.I.Am will be returning to the couch where he played a cameo role in one of the show’s most memorable moments.

Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt

Two of the biggest stars in Hollywood right now have teamed up for the romantic science fiction thriller Passengers, which goes on release in Irish cinemas on 21 December.

The pair of them are usually well up for a laugh as well so it shouldn’t take much prompting from Graham to get the best out of them tonight.

Jamie Oliver

Cookery shows are never more popular than they are when people feel they can let themselves go in the run-up to Christmas and Jamie will no doubt provide some ideas for some tasty treats for the festive season.
