It followed the hard-hitting documentary on RTÉ last night...

The Crossing, broadcast on RTÉ on Monday night, documented life aboard the the Samuel Beckett and showed the work that the Irish navy do on the behalf of people looking to escape from Northern Africa into Europe. Following the documentary, Claire Byrne Live addressed the refugee crisis and had actor Liam Cunningham, journalist Ian O'Doherty and Minister for Defence Paul Kehoe on to speak about the issue. Cunningham, perhaps best known for his role as Davos Seaworth in Game of Thrones, has been vocal on the issue for the last number of years and has travelled to visit International Rescue Committee camps in Greece, bringing a number of film stars with him to promote the cause. He spoke passionately last night about the need for Ireland to do more for the people fleeing from Africa. https://twitter.com/ClaireByrneLive/status/808462087471108097 There was a strong reaction to both the arguments of Cunningham and Ian O'Doherty online... https://twitter.com/AaronMcGrath96/status/808455358570262529 https://twitter.com/ZonalGK/status/808454544879480832 https://twitter.com/CathyWeldon1/status/808455889988579330 https://twitter.com/awoods58/status/808461915542458368 https://twitter.com/seanohargain/status/808460935002288128 https://twitter.com/KarinCarthy/status/808449002551316481 https://twitter.com/McgillPaul/status/808453795546066944 https://twitter.com/MrNiallMcGarry/status/808452275752620032 https://twitter.com/JadeHogan99/status/808453126760136707 https://twitter.com/BrinkmeyerMissy/status/808453221672960000
