WATCH: The Handmaid’s Tale turns everything on its head in the Season 3 trailer

We also finally have a confirmed date for the show’s return.

We’re in some uncharted water here, folks.

While the first season of The Handmaid’s Tale dealt with the original book in its entirety, everything since then has been the creation of the show’s writers, and considering how things ended… lets say… murkily at the end of Season 2, that feeling of confusion and fear is only set to continue on stronger than ever in Season 3.

The new trailer for the show was released on Wednesday afternoon, and in it we see Offred (or is that June?) playing a more instrumental part in the complete upheaval of America’s men and their tight grip of power over the rest of the country.

We also see that she is attempting to turn Mrs. Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) into something of an insider, while Bradley Whitford looks to be playing a much bigger role as the man who brought the Handmaid’s system into America in the first place.

It all ends with a not-subtle-at-all glimpse of Offred at the head of a red-cloaked army in Washington, with the monument replaced by a giant cross.

Yep, war is coming folks.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 3 will arrive in the US streaming platform Hulu on Wednesday 5 June, with RTÉ2 sure to continue their trend of airing the episodes the following day.
