Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 23 April) is Widows, the incredible 2018 heist thriller from director Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave, Hunger).
The film centres around four Chicago women (Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Rodriguez and Viola Davis) who attempt to steal $5 million from the home of a prominent local politician (Colin Farrell).
This is so that they can pay back the money their husbands stole from two crime boss brothers (Brian Tyree Henry and Daniel Kaluuya) before they were killed in a botched getaway attempt.
Co-starring Liam Neeson as the husband of Viola Davis' character, Widows was co-written by McQueen and Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn and is based on an '80s British series.
A tense, twisty and terrifically acted thriller with actually something to say, Widows is a must-watch for fans of crime and heist flicks.
The movie is airing on TV tonight on Film4 at 10.55pm. It's also available to rent on Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
