WWE’s Kofi Kingston releases brilliant statement regarding Hulk Hogan’s reinstatement into Hall of Fame

Hulk Hogan

Hogan was banned from the Hall of Fame following the use of extremely racist language.

WWE recently reinstated Hulk Hogan into their Hall of Fame, following a three-year suspension.

Hogan was suspended from the Hall of Fame as a result of racist and hateful comments made towards black people.

The man, who is seen as one of the most important people in wrestling’s history, was caught on camera in using the N-word on a number of occasions in 2015 and 2016.

Kofi Kingston – one of the most popular names in WWE right now – released a statement discussing the news.

The statement was written on behalf of himself, as well as his wrestling faction The New Day.

And it’s a damn good one.

Kingston initially clarifies that he is only speaking on his own behalf, and his group The New Day, and not the company, saying:

“We preface this statement by emphasising that this is our own opinion and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of anyone else affected.”

“On a personal level, when someone makes racist and hateful comments about any race or group of people, especially to the degree that Hogan made about our people, we find it difficult to simply forget, regardless of how long ago it was, or the situation in which those comments were made.”

Kingston also urges people to take the high road, rather than respond to prejudice with more hate.

“But we also do not respond with more feelings of hate. Instead, we just do not associate with the people who convey or have conveyed this negative and hurtful mindset.

“This instance will be no different. Perhaps if we see him make a genuine effort to change, then maybe our opinion will change with him. Time will tell.

“Through the course of our lives, people have used racist comments towards us and it doesn’t feel good.

“But if we stopped moving forward every time we were met with prejudicial hatred, then we would have never achieved our current accomplishments.”

The WWE as a whole have quite a poor record with issues such as this, and has a relatively dark history with regards to their treatment of minorities.
