Hollywood legends Richard Dreyfuss and Terry Gilliam confirmed as guests for JDIFF 2014

Following on from the news that the excellent-looking Calvary will open this year’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, the organiser’s have announced a number of very special, high-profile guests.

None other than acting legend Richard Dreyfuss and Monty Python genius Terry Gilliam have been confirmed to attend different screenings over the course of the festival, with both men in line to receive the Festival’s prestigious Volta Award.

The announcement of these high-profile guests continues the remarkable legacy of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival of securing the biggest names in international cinema talent to attend the festival each year.

Oscar-winner Richard Dreyfuss, star of iconic films such as Jaws, Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and What About Bob? will attend the festival for a screening of his latest film, Cas & Dylan. He will participate in a Q&A session following the massively popular Jameson Cult Film Club screening of one of his most famous films, Jaws, which will be a must-attend event for film lovers.

Cas & Dylan, Dreyfuss’ latest film, is directed by Jason Priestley and features Dreyfuss as a dying doctor, determined to die on his own terms, who inadvertently ends up on the lam with a 22 year old tearaway.

Terry Gilliam is one of the most eclectic and renowned filmmakers of his generation and will attend the Festival for a screening of his latest film, The Zero Theorem, starring Christoph Waltz, Mélanie Thierry and David Thewlis. The film tells of a reclusive computer genius who is working on a theorem to discover the meaning of life.

Gilliam’s versatile style has led him to be recognised as a filmmaker constantly pushing cinematic boundaries with his distinctive vision. As a member of the amazing Monty Python troupe, he took a number of small roles in some of the Python feature films and co-directed Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He is best known for his work on Brazil, 12 Monkeys and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival runs at venues throughout Dublin from February 13th – 23rd 2014. The jam-packed lineup for the full festival programme will be announced on January 20th, with over 130 films and themed strands, along with a host of special guests.
