Brown Thomas take a big step towards being granted a full pub license

Carl Kinsella

We can see the thinking behind this.

Ever been dragged out shopping and wished you could take a break to go and get a pint? Well, soon enough you might be able to do just that without even leaving the store.

Grafton Street’s historic department store currently operates a wine license on its premises, but is now refurbishing and improving its third floor restaurant. It has already been granted planning permission for further dining areas, a kitchen, a carvery and refrigerated storage areas.

Brown Thomas made their case today to Justice Raymond Groarke, who granted a declaratory order – which as good as guarantees the store the full pub license they’re after, according to The Irish Times.

Counsel for Brown Thomas further made the point that spouses could drink to the ease the pain of what their loved ones were spending downstairs.
