Fancy a hearty pint? Sligo pub to hold ‘Turf Swapping Night’ later this month

Oisin Collins

A pub in Sligo is planning on holding a ‘Turf Swapping Night’ on September 22 where you’ll be able to swap a bag of turf for a pint. Sounds like a good deal…

The Fox’s Den pub in Ballymote, Sligo, is getting set to ‘keep her lit’ on Saturday, September 22, as a bag of turf will buy you a pint on the night.

Here’s what The Fox’s Den had to say on their Facebook page: “Join us Saturday September 21st for a night with a difference. Turf Swapping night. Swap a bag of Turf for a Pint. Limited to 4 bags per person per Couple. Maximum of 150 Bags on the Night. Ferterlizer Bags only. KEEP HER LIT. (sic)”

Now, there are a few sneaky T&C’s such as, ‘Limited to four bags per person/per couple’ and ‘Maximum of 150 bags on the night’, which is only fair, otherwise The Fox’s Den would be completely dry on Sunday.

So if you’ve a heap of turf lying around you better get down to The Fox’s Den early on September 22…
