Man in his 50s dies following following fatal road collision in Tipperary

The incident took place on Wednesday night.

A man in his 50s has died following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in County Tipperary on Wednesday night.

The collision took place on the N24, Clonmel to Carrick-on-Suir road, at approximately 11pm.

A male driver, aged in his 50s, was fatally injured when he collided with another vehicle. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was brought to South Tipperary General Hospital where a full post mortem examination is scheduled to be carried out.

The occupant of the other vehicle was taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.

As of Thursday morning, the road remains closed in order to facilitate an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Traffic diversions have been put in place.
