Joan Burton to be named as new Labour Party leader

Breaking News: Joan Burton is to be officially named as the new Labour Party leader later today with Alan Kelly securing the deputy leadership role.

Breaking News: Joan Burton is to be officially named as the new Labour Party leader later today with Alan Kelly securing the deputy leadership role.

According to reports from NewsTalk, “Joan Burton has won the leadership election race and is now Tánaiste-designate”, with Alan Kelly taking the deputy leader role.

Newstalk goes on to say that “Joan Burton has out-polled Alex White by at near 3-to-1 votes”.

Burton will sit down for a chat with Taoiseach Enda Kenny this evening to formally discuss the reshuffle of the government. Until then, we’ll leave you with this… for no particular reason.
