A plane which left from Shannon airport has been forced to make an emergency landing today after a threat was called in

The US Airways plane, which originated in Shannon, was forced to land in Philadelphia after an unidentified threat was called in to the Philadelphia Police around 1.30pm local time. The plane landed without incident at around 6pm Irish time, after which all 171 passengers and eight crew members exited the craft.

As of yet, the exact nature of the threat has not been confirmed, as nothing was specified when it was called in according to Al Jazeera, but the plane has been grounded and brought to a remote part of the airport for a search.
