The Mountain from Game of Thrones is coming to Dublin this week

The Mountain Game of Thrones

The real-life version is considerably less terrifying, honest.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, arguably best known for his skull-crushing skills as The Mountain on Game of Thrones, is hitting up the capital this week.

The new World’s Strongest Man is due over on Thursday 24 May at 1pm, where the imposing Iceland native will meet and greet fans on Grafton Street in Dublin city centre.

Björnsson is coming to town in his capacity as brand ambassador for bookmaker Boylesports’ new campaign to support Iceland in the upcoming World Cup.

Seeing as Ireland aren’t involved this time out, it’s a decent enough substitute following the Scandinavian team’s Euro 2016 heroics.

The long wait for Game of Thrones fans continues apace, meanwhile, with the show not back on our screens until 2019.

Still, that hasn’t stopped an inventive scientist from creating an algorithm that determines who is most likely to perish in the final season.

Elsewhere in the wacky world of Westeros, script leaks are all the rage, as are long-formed fan theories, and the possible spin-off series that could fill that void once GoT finally comes to a close.

Oh, and if you really can’t wait any longer, there’s now a Game of Thrones-themed escape room in Waterford. Just play nice, now…
