Mayo Pub Spending Up 210% After First All-Ireland Title In 75 Years

Mayo pub spending rocketed by 210% in the days after the county's first All-Ireland senior football title in 75 years, new figures from AIB have revealed. Mayo finally broke the so-called Mayo curse by beating Kerry on 26 July, and the celebrations that followed were written all over the county's tills.

AIB's spend trends for July show that pub takings across Co Mayo over the three days from the final on Sunday 26 July to Tuesday 28 July were up 210% on the same period in 2025. It was a fitting release valve after the long wait ended by Mayo's All-Ireland triumph.

What the Mayo pub spending figures show

Restaurant spending in the county was 58% higher over the same three days than a year earlier, while fast-food spend climbed 43%. Across the full month, sports-store spending jumped 138% year on year as supporters kitted themselves out in the green and red for the big day.

The capital saw a lift too. On football final day, Kerry supporters spent 21% more in Dublin than Mayo fans, but Mayo followers spent 30% more than they had on semi-final day. On hurling final day, Limerick supporters increased their Dublin spend by 33% compared with the semi-final, while Galway supporters' spend dipped 6%. Cork fans made the biggest earlier splash, spending 20% more in Dublin on their semi-final day than Galway and Limerick supporters combined managed on All-Ireland final day at Croke Park.

The numbers, first reported by The42, underline just how much a first title in three-quarters of a century meant across Mayo.
