JOE caught up with Leinster’s head of fitness to talk about workouts, the key exercises for rugby, and health and fitness

Leinster’s season is now underway, but before the big kick-off we met up with Daniel Tobin, Leinster’s Head of Fitness, and got him to run through a crucial weightlifting exercise for the team, the deadlift.

Technique is vital with deadlifts, as if they are not done properly, they will work the back rather than the target area of the legs and hamstrings. Control is important and ideally you should have someone watching your technique while you lift.

As Daniel tells us, it will work a similar range of muscles to the squats, which he talked us through last week.
