The incident may have been a tragic accident.
A man in his early 30s has died in Cork, following a fatal shooting.
The incident took place at a house on Plunkett Road, in the suburb of Ballyphehane, at around 4.30pm this afternoon.
Gardaí are reportedly investigating whether or not the firearm was discharged accidentally, and the office of the State Pathologist has been informed.
