“People are crazy, Jack. I’m eccentric.”
If action flicks are your bag, you are going to love our movies on TV selection for this evening.
We start off with a film that confirmed Keanu Reeves was a star on the rise and that launched Sandra Bullock to a whole new level. We also have a Liam Neeson remake of an 80s classic TV series, more Keanu Reeves and a Kiefer Sutherland picture from 2001 that we only found out about a few minutes ago!
Speed – ITV 4 – 9pm
Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are the main characters in a high-octane thriller that gave us some banger quotes and scenes. We’ll let bad guy Dennis Hopper set up the plot for you all:
‘Pop quiz, hotshot. There’s a bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes 50 miles an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops below 50, it blows up. What do you do? What do you do?’
The A-Team – Comedy Central – 9pm
Any child (or adult) of the 1980s will tell you have gigantic a show The A-Team was. The series followed for soldiers of fortune that were framed for a crime they did not commit, yet went out of their way to help the poor and downtrodden… and blow a heap of stuff up.
There was talk of an A-Team movie for yonks. They finally got there in 2010 with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton `Rampage’ Jackson starring as the four wise-cracking, hot-rigging soldiers.
The Equalizer – Film Four – 9pm
Back in the 1980s, there was another TV series known as The Equalizer, with British hard-nut Edward Woodward playing the main role. This time out, for the big movie version, we have Denzel Washington playing the retired secret agent.
When he rescues a prostitute from a vicious pimp, The Equalizer gets drawn into gun-totting warfare with a Russian crime syndicate. Chloe Grace Moretz also stars.
Demolition Man – Turner Classic Movies – 10:45pm
Another helping of Sandra Bullock for you all, and not at 9pm! For anyone that has not seen this Sylvester Stallone ‘futuristic’ cop thriller, give it a watch or set to record.
Stallone plays a cop that is frozen alive, in the year 1996, for a crime he did not commit. Sound familiar?! He is only thawed out when a psychotic killer, from his era (and played by Wesley Snipes) breaks free of cryo-prison and goes on a rampage.
The Great Movies channel has ‘To End All Wars’ – with Robert Carlyle, Kiefer Sutherland, Ciaran McMenamin and Mark Strong – on at 9pm, and another Keanu Reeves movie, ‘Johnny Mnemonic’ is on the Great! Action channel from 10:50pm.
Go forth and watch!
