Nintendo and Sony plan to bring Link and Zelda to the big screen.
Shigeru Miyamot, the creator and game developer behind The Legend of Zelda franchise, has announced plans to make a feature-length film.
The gaming legend announced the news via Nintendo’s official X account:

Hyrule goes Hollywood.
On the live-action Zelda movie, Shigeru Miyamot continued:
“I have asked Avi-san (Avi Arad) to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
The movie will be directed by Wes Ball, the man behind the Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Miyamoto is no stranger to the screen either, having helped produce the 2023 box office hit Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The Zelda movie will be co-produced by Avi Arad, who has worked on every live-action Spider-Man movie and the Spider-Verse animated films. Arad is one of the founders of Marvel Studios. Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse has already been described, by our very own Rory Cashin, as the best movie of 2023 so far.
The film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony will handle the theatrical distribution.
Miyamoto remained tight-lipped when it came to plot and casting details.
