We hope you like action movies, because there is a lot of them on the menu tonight!

So we’ve got superhero action.

We’ve got classic (Is something from 1991 old enough to be a “classic”? Discuss.) action.

We’ve got teen angst action.

We’ve got all star attractive people action.

So if you like action movies, tonight is your night!

THURSDAY 23 JANUARY

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – E4 – 9pm

The second (and best!) of the teenagers-killing-each-other future dystopian action series, with Jennifer Lawrence joined by an all-star cast in a huge game of survival.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army – Comedy Central – 9pm

Superior comic book sequel featuring Ron Perlman as the red horny guy who is trying to stop Armageddon. As per usual, eventual Oscar winner Guillermo Del Toro makes it one of the most visually beautiful movies you’ll ever see.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day – ITV4 – 9pm

Arguably the greatest action movie ever made, as well as maybe the best sequel ever made. Lots of good stuff here.

Ocean’s Eleven – TCM – 9pm

Arguably the greatest remake of all time. Did you even know it was a remake? Probably not. But the original had Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and the likes, but this one has Clooney and Pitt and Roberts and Damon and is just generally a HUGE amount of fun.

Starred Up – FilmFour – 11.05pm

Powerful prison drama featuring Jack O’Connell as a violent criminal who is locked up in the same prison as his own estranged father (Ben Mendelsohn).

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
