Movies & TV

22nd Jan 2020

Here are the 6 best movies on TV this evening

Rory Cashin

A very eclectic mix tonight, it must be said.

Sitting in tonight?

Got a few hours to kill before/after Love Island? (Love Island is on tonight, right??)

Or the head-to-head debate between Varadkar and Martin is also on?

Then why not check out one of these!

WEDNESDAY 22 JANUARY

Blade – TCM – 9pm

Wesley Snipes is the half-human/half-vampire superhero who is trying to stop the world from being taken over by bloodsuckers. And how does he stop them? With a big sword and kicks to the face.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch – Comedy Central – 9pm

The horror-comedy of the original leans into more out-and-out comedy in the OTT sequel, when the bad gremlins head into the city and take over an entire office block.

Split – FilmFour – 9pm

James McAvoy movie number one. He plays a man with multiple personality disorder who kidnaps a group of teenage girls in preparation for some nefarious reasons. M. Night Shyalaman’s best movie since Unbreakable.

Windtalkers – ITV4 – 10pm

Nic Cage heads into World War Two with some Native American codebreakers. From the director of Face/Off and Broken Arrow.

Virus – Syfy – 10pm

Jamie Lee Curtis stars amongst a cast of actors who will definitely recognise but maybe not be able to name, as a survivor of a sinking ship who happen across an abandoned Russian boat. Sorry, did we say abandoned? We meant filled with aliens.

Welcome To The Punch – FilmFour – 11.20pm

James McAvoy movie number two. He plays a veteran London detective who is given one more chance to bring a notorious criminal (Mark Strong) to justice when he is forced to return to the city.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
