Movies on TV

Monday, Monday.

Another week has begun, not that the days seem to. matter much anymore. What has changed (for the most part) is the line-up of movies on TV. There are some excellent options this evening, and we’ve picked some of the best for you to peruse below.

Days Of Thunder – Sky One – 9pm

A classic Tom Cruise flick from back in 1990. In this one he plays a NASCAR driver who suffers a serious accident. Star-studded cast, also featuring Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid and John C Reilly.

Catch Me If You Can – TG4 – 9.30

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s best roles, in which he plays a con artist on the run from a stern lawman played by Tom Hanks. Full of twists and turns and surprises. If you haven’t seen it, then you should rectify that.

Rocky III – ITV4 – 10pm

Okay, it seems like we’ve reached the stage of quarantine where the Rocky movies are on every day now. Which is fine. They’re good movies. The third one is on tonight, that’s the one with Mr. T.

The Constant Gardener – Sky Atlantic – 10.10pm

That guy just would not stop gardening!

Ali G Indahouse – Comedy Central – 11.15pm

Satirical genius Sasha Baron Cohen at his best, in a movie that’s one part comedy farce, one part political intrigue, and all parts hilarious. Also stars Michael Gambon (Dumbledore in Harry Potter) and Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones).

Red Dragon – Channel 5 – 11pm

The Hannibal Lecter prequel, featuring a stellar cast of Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes and the late, great Phillip Seymour Hoffman.

Nude Nuns with Big Guns – Horror Channel 11pm

I don’t know what the hell this is but with a title like that, it seemed remiss of me to exclude it from this article.

Here’s the official synopsis: “A nun is drugged, abused and brainwashed by her corrupt superiors in the church, but survives and receives a vision of God, who tells her to seek revenge on her enemies. Acquiring an arsenal of weapons, she hunts down and murders those who tortured her, prompting the clergy to hire a dangerous biker gang to kill her.”

It’s genre is described as “nunsploitation,” which sounds like it should be illegal to me.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
