Movies on TV

It’s Sunday.

It’s Sunday again, and tomorrow morning we’ll all move from the parts of our house where we relax to the parts of our house where we work – unless Phase One has brought you back to your place of work that is. But for the final few hours of the weekend, there is time to savour some movies on TV.

We’re starting a little earlier today in order to fit in…

Jurassic Park – UTV – 5.45pm

This film needs no introduction.

Coyote Ugly – ITV2 – 6.55pm

Features a lot of table-top dancing in a bar, which is exactly how life will look in Ireland once they reopen the pubs. Also features the song ‘Can’t Fight The Moonlight’ by LeAnn Rimes. What a banger that was.

Paddington – E4 – 7.10pm

One of the most heartwarming, adorable films to grace cinema screens in the last long while. We highly recommend watching this if you’re feeling down today. Starring the voices of Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and the actual Paddington Bear.

Ocean’s Eleven – Comedy Central – 9pm

A thoroughly enjoyable, whimsical, heist film with a top notch cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Ireland’s Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Casey Affleck and Eliott Gould.

The Dirty Dozen – ITV4 – 9pm

An uncompromising major is placed in charge of a seemingly suicidal mission to destroy a French chateau being used as a base by Nazi officers. Needing tough but expendable soldiers for the task, he recruits 12 hardened criminals from a military prison. Full of old-school badasses like Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and, to a lesser extent, Ernest Borgnine.

The Big Lebowski – Sky Comedy – 12am

Technically starts at midnight but we’re including it. Funny and iconic Coen Brothers movie starring Jeff Bridges, John Goodman and Steve Buscemi.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
