Amazon Prime Video has just added 21 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Action, sci-fi, drama and family-friendly comedies are all on the newly-updated menu.

Just a week on since it added 23 movies to its library, Amazon Prime Video has only gone and added another host of films to choose from.

Starting with…

THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2

Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac lend their voices to this animated sequel, which is considerably worse than the 2019 original, which was itself not very good.

ALEX RIDER: STORMBREAKER

What if Jason Bourne was a teenager? This movie is answering the question nobody asked. Still, Ewan McGregor and Mickey Rourke are having fun.

THE BRIGHT SIDE

A tear-jerking Irish comedy drama about a woman who is diagnosed with cancer, later channelling it into her career as a stand-up comedian.

BRONSON

The movie that introduced most of us to Tom Hardy, here practically unrecognisable as prisoner Michael Peterson, aka Charles Bronson, who spends most of his time in solitary confinement due to his aggressive behaviour.

CLOSED CIRCUIT

The director of Intermission and Brooklyn tried his hand at international political intrigue here, bringing along Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall for the ride. It was only okay.

THE EX

We’d never heard of this rom-com starring Jason Bateman, Zach Braff and Amanda Peet before. 19% on Rotten Tomatoes probably explains why.

FIGHTING

Early-career Channing Tatum headlines this dive into the world of bareknuckle boxing in New York.

JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE

A serial cheater is about to have his life turned upside down when all of his scorned exes work together to ruin him. Stars that hunk from Desperate Housewives and also (checks notes) ’00s R’n’B singer Ashanti.

MONSTERS

A magnificently atmospheric sci-fi drama about two reporters covering a part of America that has been lost to giant aliens following a spaceship crash landing there several years earlier.

NOWHERE BOY

A decent insight into the early days of John Lennon (played here by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), as a rebellious teenager on the streets of Liverpool.

PITCH PERFECT TRILOGY

All three of the competitive a capella comedies are now available to watch. The first one is good, the second is okay, the third is bad.

RIDE ALONG & RIDE ALONG 2

These are both bad.

SEA FEVER

This little seen Irish-set horror has the crew of a boat (Dougray Scott, Connie Nielsen, Olwen Fouéré) encounter a newly-discovered sea creature, and it turns out, it isn’t super friendly. Features one of the best horror death scenes of recent years.

SENNA

A documentary about Ayrton Senna, one of the most revered Formula One drivers in history.

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning adaptation of Jane Austen’s much-loved romantic drama features Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman and Tom Wilkinson.

SHORT TERM 12

A powerful and brilliant drama centred around a young supervising staff member (Brie Larson) at a residential treatment facility.

STOP MAKING SENSE

Talking Heads present one of the greatest concert movies of all time.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS

Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi’s instant classic comedy about a group of vampires trying to exist in modern New Zealand.
