Clare fighting that young child gave Derry Girls fans a good laugh

Derry Girls Clare

That wain never had a chance.

In terms of what unfolded during Season 2 of Derry Girls, nobody could say that they were disappointed by Lisa McGee’s wonderful comedy.

After that incredibly upbeat and optimistic ending, things have got better (said to the tune of D:ream – ‘Things Can Only Get Better’) because Season 3 is definitely happening.

Oh yes, being a Derry girl is definitely a state of mind and we’re absolutely delighted to say that the gang are coming back for even more episodes.

In some ways, it’s fitting that Clare Devlin started Season 2 in badass mode because that’s exactly how she ended it. Then again, the circumstances were pretty different because fighting a young child and genuinely fearing for your life are two very different things!

In the first episode, we saw Nicola Coughlan’s beloved character hanging from the edge of a cliff while screaming “he’s a Fenian hating mad man! Don’t let the jaffa bastard get me!”

Of course, this was all one big misunderstanding but ‘the wee lesbian’ is definitely not someone to be messed with. Just ask that young girl that tried to take Clare’s spot at the Guildhall.

Throughout the season finale, we saw just how driven Clare was to meet the Clintons and nothing was going to get in her way. Christ, the most timid Derry girl was even willing to play truant sack off school, just so she could get a good spot at the Guildhall to see the US president.

After queuing since 05:00, nothing was going to get in her way.

To be honest, that wain never had a chance!

Clare is definitely not a craic killer because in her own words “I did fight that wain Erin and I’d fight that wain again if I had too”

As Erin said: “Jesus, Clare!”
