Colin Farrell talks Dumbo, saddest movies ever, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia

Rory Cashin

Colin Farrell Dumbo

He has no problem listing some of the recent movies that had him absolutely bawling his eyes out.

Having already broken our hearts with recent Disney movie Saving Mister Banks, Colin Farrell is reteaming with the Mouse House to have us all crying our eyes out again with the live-action take on Dumbo.

This time he’s teaming up with legendary director Tim Burton (Batman, Edward Scissorhands) for a visionary take on the classic tale, as he plays the distant father of two young kids who may hold the key to helping the young elephant take flight.

He’s joined by a hugely impressive cast – Danny DeVito, Michael Keaton, Alan Arkin, Eva Green – and some cutting edge special effects, all of which combine to create a unique, and very different version of the story we all already know and love.

JOE was lucky enough to catch up with Farrell in the lead-up to the release of Dumbo, and we chatted about everything from the saddest movies he’s ever watched, showing his own kids movies that are super scary to them, working with Danny DeVito (and wanting to join him on I’m Always Sunny!) and lots more.

Check out our full chat right here:

He’s just a lovely chap, isn’t he?!

Dumbo is released in Irish cinemas from Friday 29 March.
