David Beckham

The series will see Beckham going back to his roots.

Isn’t it always the case? You wait for one documentary fronted by an incredibly famous footballer to arrive, and then suddenly two arrive at once.

In this case, it is David Beckham, here teaming up with Disney+ for a brand new factual entertainment show, Save Our Squad.

The series will see Beckham return to the East London football pitches where he played as a child to mentor a team of young players who are struggling to make it through the season.

Over the course of the season, according to the synopsis, Beckham will transform the players, their coach and their entire community, thanks to the years of experience he has in the game.

Speaking on the project, Beckham had the following to say:

“It is fantastic to be making Save Our Squad with Twenty Twenty and to shine a light on the kind of grassroots football that I experienced growing up and which gave me so much at the start of my life in the game.

“I was so fortunate to have a long and successful playing career and now to have the opportunity to give back to these communities as a mentor is incredible. Developing and nurturing young talent is so important in the game and it is great to be working with Disney+ on this project.”

There is currently no set release date for the six-episode series.
