Celebrating the 29th birthday of a classic programme.
The most easy-watching show known to man in the best way possible, Married with Children was a staple of 90s TV that had a repeated running joke and few laugh out loud moments, but always made for endearing viewing.
It was a testament to the fatally flawed but extremely lovable characters of Al, Peggy ("hey Peg"), Kelly and Bud that the show ran for 263 episodes and 10 years, all starting on April 5, 1987.
Al Bundy, played so well by Ed O'Neill (now probably better known for his role in Modern Family), is an instantly recognisable character from our past, so here are 10 inspirational (in their own very unique way) quotes by the man of the house.
In no particular order...
"I'm jealous of everyone not married to you."
"Life didn't pass me by, it sat on my head."
"Threats don't work on me... I've already been to hell."
"What's five million years in the scheme of the life of one man?"
"Telling Al Bundy is just like telling the wind."
"You've desecrated the toilet I call home!"
"How proud can a father be?"
"Don't look at me, I'm blind from hunger."
"Behind every successful man is a woman who didn't marry me."

The show comes from Bad Sisters’ Sharon Horgan. BBC sitcom Amandaland, which was hailed as “one of the funniest shows in years” by viewers, has just been added to Netflix. A spin-off to the beloved series Motherland, it sees Lucy Punch reprise her role as Amanda – the acerbic, self-centred and extremely image-conscious “alpha mum”. […]
