JOE has got an exclusive look at the first trailer.
The first trailer for the much-anticipated new Irish comedy movie Fran the Man has been exclusively revealed by JOE.
The mockumentary is based on the cult favourite series Fran which aired on Setanta Sports and TV3 from 2009-2011, with Darragh Humphreys reprising his role as the disaster-prone assistant manager Fran Costello from the show.
Co-starring Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted), Amy Huberman (Last One Laughing), Deirdre O’Kane (Intermission), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Risteárd Cooper (Extra Ordinary) and Toni O’Rourke (The Boy Who Never Was), the film will see Fran and his beloved amateur club St. Peter’s Celtic become embroiled in an international match-fixing scandal.
When Fran learns that some of his players have taken a bribe to fix an FAI Cup match, he turns detective in the hope of catching the rats.

“Fran’s life is further complicated by a slow-burning romance with Jackie Charlton (Huberman) – one of his player’s mothers,” the plot synopsis adds.
“For someone who has used football to shy away from life, Fran is being catapulted headfirst into all it has to offer.”
Speaking about the movie’s upcoming release, writer Richie Conroy (Crá) said: “Fran the Man is a rare thing – a four-quadrant movie – that is the perfect tonic for anyone who is looking for a laugh, an engaging scéal and a bit of feel-good escapism.”
Following its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival this month, Fran the Man will be released in Irish cinemas from April 11.
