Donald Glover and Rihanna’s top-secret new project is arriving very soon

Rudi Kinsella

Guava Island

Not long at all to wait.

Donald Glover is legitimately one of the most talented people in the world.

As an actor, he’s brilliant in Atlanta (which he also created and writes, btw) and he’s hilarious as Troy Barnes in Community.

As a rapper, he was responsible for what is surely the biggest song of 2018 with ‘This Is America’, and has a number of really successful musical projects to his name.

Even his stand-up special Weirdo, which is available on Netflix, is absolutely hilarious.

So whenever he does anything, it’s fairly reasonable to get really excited about it.

Throw Rihanna into the mix and you best believe that we are sold.

And that’s why we are buzzing for Guava Island, the new movie starring Glover and Rihanna.

The thriller, set in Cuba and also stars Letitia Wright (Shuri from the MCU) and Nonso Anozie, and will arrive on Prime Video at 8.01am Irish time on Saturday, 13 April, just after Childish Gambino (Glover’s rap name) performs at Coachella.

There are also a number of reports that suggest it could be a visual album, to accompany a new release.

Take a look at an extremely brief teaser for the movie here:

According to Variety, Glover seems pretty damn pleased with how the movie turned out: “I’m really humbled having the opportunity to present something this timely and timeless.

“Between Rihanna and the people of Cuba, this is one of my favourite projects I’ve ever worked on”.

Bring it on.
