In Bruges’ director wants to reunite Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson for a new film

I'm confident in saying that very few films have been as beloved by Irish film fans quite like Martin McDonagh's superb debut feature 'In Bruges' and rightfully so. We absolutely love it because it somehow managed to mix dark-comedy, pathos and two superb performances from its main cast members - take a look at our tribute here if you fancy reading more about it. In a recent interview, our resident movie geek Eoghan Doherty even asked Colin Farrell about the possibility of working with Brendan Gleeson again and it seems like our wishes are coming true. Martin McDonagh is currently promoting his new play 'Hangmen' in London's West End and he told the press that he has plans to make a film set at the time of the Irish Civil War. Speaking with the the Press Association he said "there are a few things that I think could be exciting either filmically or dramatically about the Easter Rising, or the War of Independence or the Irish Civil War. In fact, I've just been kind of writing something about that." The film is about "a couple of characters who are completely distanced from the civil war but it is set at that time, in the early 1920s. When the Oscar winner was pushed on his ideal cast, he had this to say "at some point it would be lovely to get Colin and Brendan back together." We agree.
