This is just great news for movie fans.

Matt Damon is returning to the Bourne franchise.

The actor has played Jason Bourne in three films – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum – before handing the reins over to Jeremy Renner for the poorly received The Bourne Legacy.

However, Damon has now confirmed that he’ll be teaming up with Paul Greengrass once again.

“[We’ll shoot it] next year,” Damon told E! News, “It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. “Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”

Renner is also likely to reprise his role as Aaron Cross.

“I think it [a team-up] really opens up the world and it keeps Bourne’s character active,” he said.
