The first reviews for Mission: Impossible – Fallout are in, and it may well be the best blockbuster of the year

Rory Cashin

Oh hells yes, we are VERY excited for this!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to try to keep a lid on your expectations, but it’ll be tougher to do after reading these.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout has screened to some critics around the world, and the early word is nothing short of spectacular, as it gets compared to the likes of Skyfall and Mad Max: Fury Road.

JOE’s movie show The Big Reviewski will be reviewing the movie the week of release (plus we were lucky enough to chat to some of the cast and crew, so keep an eye out of that!), but in the meantime, here is what some of the critics had to say about the sixth mission:

“Simply put, Mission: Impossible – Fallout is the best action movie you will see this year. You’ll probably leave the theater overcome with an urge to go jumping from building to building.” – UPROXX

“It doesn’t take long to recognize that Mission: Impossible — Fallout is one of the best action movies ever made.” – Indiewire

“This finale has got to rank among the most eye-poppingly gorgeous action sequences ever shot: huge hat-tip to the generally amazing British cinematographer Rob Hardy (Annihilation) for saving such lavish visual treats for dessert.” – The Telegraph

“Add in a fair amount of humour and some exploratory emotion as Hunt, hitherto a cipher, gets to exhibit a little soul beneath the superspy, and you have, improbably, the finest Mission yet.” – Total Film

“It’s the kind of pure, straight-no-chaser pop fun that not only keeps taking your breath away over and over again, it restores your occasionally shaky faith in summer blockbusters.” – Entertainment Weekly

We’ll know for ourselves when Mission: Impossible – Fallout hits Irish cinemas on Friday 27 July.
