“They were no longer little girls; they were little women.”

We hope you’re enjoying that sweltering heat outside.

But after a busy day full of activities (including a fantastic All-Ireland Hurling final), you’ll need to kick back and relax.

So throw off the swimming togs, lap on the after-sun, and stick yourself to the couch for an evening full of great films.

Here’s JOE’s top picks for the movies on your television this Sunday (17 July).

Marley and Me – ITV2 – 5.40pm

“Wow” – Owen Wilson, after buying a dog.

Little Women – Channel 4 – 6.30pm

Our top pick for tonight is a beautiful family drama that will make you feel all warm inside afterwards.

This adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott classic stars Saoirse Ronan as one of the March sisters, who writes about the life of her family full of sisters.

Directed by Greta Gerwig of Lady Bird fame, the film currently holds a near perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes at 95%, and was nominated for six Academy Awards. A lovely, lovely film.

Although, not quite as good as the Moe Szyslak adaptation.

Kingsman: The Secret Service – E4 – 9pm

One of the best uses of ‘Free Bird’ in cinematic history.

Austin Powers In Goldmember – Comedy Central – 9pm

The third one, baby!

Disappearance at Clifton Hill – Film4 – 9pm

A thriller which sees a rare acting cameo from legendary horror director David Cronenberg.

Martha Marcy May Marlene – Great! Movies – 9pm

Before she was Scarlet Witch, Elizabeth Olsen starred in this great thriller surrounding a woman breaking free from a cult.

The Vow – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

A bit like 50 First Dates, but with 100% less Adam Sandler.

Snatch – ITV4 – 10.05pm

A Guy Ritchie classic, with a… unique performance from Brad Pitt. In a good way!

Blade Runner: 2049 – BBC One – 10.30pm

A sci-fi masterpiece. Some might say even better than the original.

Re-Animator – Horror Channel – 11pm

A cult classic horror comedy based on a HP Lovecraft story? Sign us up.
