A prequel to one of the best sci-fi movies ever made is on TV tonight

Alien: Covenant

It’s got a great Irish actor reprising his role from another film in the legendary series.

There’s no better way to round off the weekend than with some great flicks. Fortunately there’s an excellent choice of movies on TV tonight. If nothing tickles your fancy below, however, you could take a look at one of the best films of last year, which is now available to watch on Prime Video.

From family classics to sci-fi horrors, you won’t be stuck for any specific genre to get stuck into. So, without further ado, have a look below at our choices of the best films on TV later, it will save you having to flick around.

Aquaman – ITV2 -7.10pm

Jason Mamoa stars as Arthur Curry, the human-born heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, as he goes on a quest to prevent a war between the worlds of ocean and land.

Judge Dredd – 8pm

Sylvester Stallone, Armand Assante, Max von Sydow, Diane Lane and Rob Schneider star in this 1995 sci-fi flick about a law enforcer in a post-apocalyptic city framed for a series of crimes committed by a fugitive who shares his DNA.

Transformers – E4 – 8pm

The movie that started off one of the most successful franchises in film history. This 2007 sci-fi film stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, a teenager who gets caught up in a war between the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two factions of alien robots who can disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery, primarily vehicles.

Deadpool – Film4 – 8pm

Superhero comedy adventure starring Ryan Reynolds as a mercenary on a quest for revenge on the man responsible for his hideous appearance.

John Wick – ITV4 – 10pm

With John Wick: Chapter 4 in cinemas this week, there’s no better time to catch up on the excellent action series with the first installment from 2014 on TV tonight. Keanu Reeves stars as the ruthless retired hitman, forced back into action after a recent bereavement.

Glass – Film4 – 10.10pm

M. Night Shyamalan rounds off the Unbreakable trilogy with this 2019 entry starring Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and James McEvoy. The film centres on security guard David Dunn as he uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities.

Alien: Covenant – E4 -10.50pm

Our pick for tonight is the most recent entry in the Alien franchise, which saw Ridley Scott return to the director’s chair in 2017.

If you haven’t got your fill of facehuggers, then the sixth installment in the Alien franchise will help. A prequel to the legendary first film, Covenant is a follow up to 2012’s Prometheus, which centres around the android David 8 (Michael Fassbender), and two crews he accompanies on expeditions to meet the mysterious Engineers.

Una – Film4 – 12.45am

Rooney Mara, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed star in this underrated 2016 drama about a woman who tracks down her abusive former-neighbour who she shared a relationship with when she was younger.
