An Irish cartoon about dragons? Sounds good to us.
Netflix have been adding some really good Irish content of late.
Most recently, we’ve seen the incredible documentary, entitled The 34th, added to the Netflix roster. The 34th follows the decade that culminated in the 34th amendment to the Irish constitution, which legalised same-sex marriage in Ireland.
And now we have even more good news!
My Father’s Dragon is a 2D animated family feature film, which is directed by Nora Twomey, and written by Meg LeFauve.
It tells the story of young run-away Elmer Elevator, who searches for a captive dragon on a wild island, but finds way more than he could have ever anticipated.
Speaking about this achievement, director Nora Twomey said: “To have the kind of creative encouragement Netflix are providing is an incredible opportunity for our filmmaking team. We are all so excited to bind our skills together and begin My Father’s Dragon.”
There is no confirmed release date for the movie as of yet, but it’s not expected to be on Netflix until some point in 2021…
