Netflix’s new mystery thriller series 13 Reasons Why premieres this Friday

Rory Cashin

This Friday sees the launch of all thirteen episodes of 13 Reasons Why on Netflix, and we imagine we can predict already how your weekend is going to pan out.

It tells the story of Clay (played by Dylan Minnette, who you might remember from horror movie Don’t Breathe, or playing Jack’s son in Lost), who receives a series of audio tapes from his friend Hannah (Katherine Langford).

The problem is, Hannah is dead.

She killed herself a few days earlier, and left tapes behind to everyone she claims is part of the reason she committed suicide.

Directed by Tom McCarthy – the guy who directed the Oscar-winning Spotlight – and produced by him and Selena Gomez, it looks set to be the next big talking produced by the streaming service.

Making a mystery-thriller off the back of a suicide can be a dodgy terrain, even if it is based on a best-selling novel, so we’re really looking forward to seeing how Netflix pulls this one off.
