We don’t mean to alarm you, but Christmas movies are already being added…

Need some viewing inspiration for this evening? Look no further…

AMERICAN ASSASSIN

Dylan O’Brien and Michael Keaton star in this action thriller about a young man who enlists in the CIA after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack. 34% on Rotten Tomatoes feels about right.

THE HEAT

A very entertaining comedy about a pair of mismatched cops (Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy) forced to work together on a new case.

HIGH FIDELITY

Jack Black steals the show out from under John Cusack in this much-loved romantic comedy.

THE HOLIDAY

A Christmas classic, with two women (Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet) who swap homes at the holidays after they each suffer a bad break-up.

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE

John Cusack again, this time heading a quartet of comedians who find themselves transported back into the bodies of their teenage selves thanks to a magical time machine. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy the raunch.

I AM NUMBER FOUR

One of the many, MANY big budget young adult adaptation failures, this one involving a young man (Alex Pettyfer) who is gifted with astonishing powers, but finds himself being hunted by an alien race.

JENNIFER’S BODY

Megan Fox is tremendous in this incredibly violent comedy horror about a teenage girl who gets possessed by a demon with a human sacrifice goes awry.

JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE

When all of the ex-girlfriends of a womanising teenager (John Metcalfe, former Desperate Housewives hunk) team up to get revenge on him, “comedy” ensues.

JUNO

A teenager (Elliott Page) finds they’ve gotten pregnant, which turns their entire lives upside down. A sharp comedy with a terrific supporting cast.

KING ARTHUR

The one with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley. The one that was filmed in Ireland. The boring one.

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN

Following on from Gladiator was always going to be tough, especially when director Ridley Scott chose the not-quite-as-believably-heroic Orlando Bloom as his new lead. Still, this is a suitably impressive sword ‘n’ sandals epic in places.

LIFE OF PI

Based on the much-loved book about a boy who escapes from a sinking ship, only to find himself on board a life raft with a tiger.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE

Toni Collette, Steve Carrell and Abigail Breslin headline this comedy-drama about a dysfunctional family who take a road trip so they can enter the young girl into a beauty pageant.

LOVE, ACTUALLY

You either already love or hate this Christmas romance.

ME, MYSELF & IRENE

In a prime example of “They couldn’t make this today”, Jim Carrey stars in this comedy about a police officer diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, and attempts to keep it under control while transporting a witness (Rene Zellweger) across the country.

MONUMENTS MEN

An incredible cast – George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman – and a great story about saving art masterpieces from Nazi soldiers, but it is all kind of… dull?

SPIDER-MAN 3

The worst one.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
