The Queen’s Gambit creator and Anya Taylor-Joy are teaming up for another project

The Queen's Gambit

Great news.

One of the big Netflix success stories this year – aside from Tiger King, obviously – has been the popularity of The Queen’s Gambit since its release in October.

Don’t let the promise of much chess-related entertainment deter you, the show is fantastic and currently sits with a cool 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The show’s co-creator Scott Frank and star Anya Taylor-Joy have been drawing praise for their work on the project and there’s good news for fans because the duo are set to work together again.

Frank and Taylor-Joy are teaming up for a film adaption of Vladimir Nabokov’s 1932 novel Laughter in the Dark.

Speaking with The Watch podcast, Frank said he plans to create it as a “film noir” and a “really nasty, wonderful, thriller”.

It’s expected that much of the crew from The Queen’s Gambit will be involved in the film.

The novel follows the story of Albert Albinus, a married middle-aged art critic, and Margot Pieters, a teenage actress with whom Albinus is obsessed with.

When his wife discovers his infidelity, she enlists the help of her former lover to exact psychological and financial revenge on her cheating husband.
