The talented actor will always be best known as the dim-witted road sweeper from the classic BBC sitcom.

Sad news today from across the water as actor Roger Lloyd Pack has passed away from pancreatic cancer. The 69-year-old, who appeared in a variety of film and TV roles over his long career, including a Harry Potter film and The Vicar of Dibley, will always be known for his role as Trigger in Only Fools and Horses.

A semi-regular character who interacted with the central Trotter family throughout its long run, Trigger was a local road sweeper who earned his name because he ‘looked like a horse’.

Not the sharpest tool in the box, his idiocy was one of the funniest aspects of a very funny show, and his long-running gag calling Rodney ‘Dave’ was one of the programme’s most famous jokes.

Trigger was also in the scene from the show that is regularly voted as the funniest of all time, where Del Boy falls through the bar.

This is still our favourite Trigger scene though, as he struggles with Mozart.

RIP Roger
