RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra are having a night that’s dedicated to the music of John Williams

Paul Moore

John Williams

He created some of the most iconic theme songs of all time.

Jaws, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T, Jurassic Park, Catch Me If You Can, Home Alone, Superman.

They’re all great films, they all have great scores. John Williams composed them all.

In terms of composers, the five-time Oscar winner is one of – if not THE – most famous names in Hollywood and if you love his work, you’ll be delighted to know that some of his movie masterpieces will be performed live very soon.

On Friday, 19 July, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will be playing some of his most iconic scores at the National Concert Hall, Dublin.

Tickets start at €15 with various different pricing categories available too.

Aside from Williams’ most memorable pieces of music, the evening will also feature work from those composers that inspired him.

The official event description states that: “Among the legendary trailblazers who defined the symphonic sound of Hollywood in the 1940s that Williams would later resurrect, were Erich Wolfgang Korngold (the blazing trumpet fanfare of Kings Row and lilting, string-saturated Love Theme from The Adventures of Robin Hood), Miklós Rózsa (the brass-rich, fantasia of The Thief of Baghdad) and Max Steiner – who can forget the aching, bittersweet romance of Now Voyager?”

If you’re interested in hearing the music from that man that created some genuine movie classics, more information can be found here.

Controversial klaxon alert….but this author will always opt for this track as his finest ever score.

Who are we to argue with Indy?
