“Game’s the same… just got more fierce.”
When you run through the list of greatest TV shows of all time you’ll often hear the same three shows being mentioned: Breaking Bad, The Sopranos and Glenroe The Wire.
Well, fans of the show are going to love this latest rumour about the show. Word around the pit is that The Wire is being remastered in HD and rebroadcast on HBO. This rumour surfaced after this ad was shown on HBO this week…
Pair this with the fact that TVGuide.com have a schedule slot held for The Wire on HBO Signature at the time advertised in the promo. Interesting… The TV guide does say that at this time it will be Episode 3 of Season 1 aired at this time, but this may be a simple error due to the uncertainty surrounding the schedule.
So what does this mean for us over this side of the pond? Well, we think it seems unlikely that if HBO were to remaster the show, that they would make it exclusively available to the US market, especially considering the worldwide appeal of the show.
Whether we see it on Sky Atlantic or on glorious Blu-Ray all we know is that we want it right now because, when it comes to the king of the TV shows, everyone knows that “the king stay the king.”
