Star Wars director Rian Johnson has a lovely message to Ireland as Episode VIII wraps up shooting here

Paul Moore

Luke Skywalker’s Irish home has obviously made an impression.

Star Wars : The Force Awakens answered one of the most burning questions in the saga’s history.

No, we didn’t find out if someone actually murdered Jar Jar Binks or if Boba Fett made it out of the Sarlaac Pit alive, but we now know where Luke Skywalker was spending his time in exile.

The Wild Atlantic Way will once again feature prominently in Star Wars: Episode VIII with scenes being filmed at Loop Head in Co Clare, Malin Head in Co Donegal, Mizen Head in Cork and Skellig Michael.

There’s a new man behind the lens for the next film, Brick and Looper director Rian Johnson is the man in charge, and it seems that he thoroughly enjoyed his time in Ireland.
