Netflix has confirmed that The Diplomat returns for a fourth season on 15 October, releasing a first-look teaser trailer and a set of new images alongside the date.
Because Netflix drops its originals globally on the day, Irish viewers get the new run on Netflix IE from 15 October too.
Keri Russell returns as Kate Wyler, the US Ambassador to the UK who spends the series being pulled into a conspiracy involving multiple countries and governments.
Rufus Sewell is back as her husband Hal Wyler, with Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah, Rory Kinnear, Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney also named in the returning cast by Variety.
The teaser leans on the Wylers rather than the geopolitics. Screen Rant, which also published the first-look material, read the footage as Kate and Hal beginning to mend a marriage that has been the show's most combustible thread since season one.
Janney's arrival as vice president in the third season left the balance of power around Kate looking very different going into this one.
A mid-October slot puts The Diplomat into the autumn stretch when Netflix tends to load up on returning drama, and it lands well ahead of the Christmas schedules.
If you are working out what to queue behind it, we have also covered the Monster season 4 release date and what else is on Netflix in Ireland right now.
